Replacement buses instead of trams: start track work in Magdeburg!

Magdeburg, Deutschland - In Magdeburg, the buses are quite high in the course in Magdeburg, because the Magdeburg transport companies (MVB) use replacement buses on several tram lines. The background is necessary track construction work that required tram traffic temporarily. Above all, the lines towards Rothensee and the Barleber See are affected. In addition, there are major interruptions from July 3 to July 6th, while track and overhead line installations will take place at a level crossing. For this purpose, MVB spokesman Tim Stein explains that the rails, the suspension and track covering have to be thoroughly renewed in order to avoid future problems. The level crossing at the departure from the Magdeburger Ring to Ebendorfer Chaussee remains closed until further notice, despite the release of Ebendorfer Chaussee.

From Thursday evening to Sunday evening there will be no tram connection towards Kannensstieg. The detour for tram line 1 leads from the Klosterwuhne stop to the Neustädter See end point. The replacement traffic is organized with buses on line 41 that operate all stops on the side of the road. The switch takes place on Kastanienstrasse, where passengers can remain mobile.

construction work ensure far -reaching diversions

The MVB is not alone with this work. From June 25th to June 29th, tram traffic on lines 2, 8 and N2 was interrupted. A new construction of a new tram route in Warsaw and Schönebecker Straße is coming up. This construction work must be carried out in order to be able to put the new city -fitting track section into operation. The installation of two building switches is also necessary.

The Schönebecker Straße will remain closed until mid -December to take the increasing demands on the traffic flow into account. Readings are necessary that lead over Leipziger Straße and Erich-Weinert-Straße. There were significant changes for passengers on line 2: the north route now leads over the old Neustadt-Südring, and the south route runs shortened between Westerhüsen and Buckau/waterworks. Passengers in Buckau can use the replacement traffic of line 43.

traffic restrictions in the city

The large number of construction sites in Magdeburg have an impact on the flow of traffic: traffic jams and blocked roads are the order of the day. During peak times in the morning and afternoon, the drivers and passengers notice the delays. Information on the ongoing construction sites and the associated waiting times are provided on various platforms, so that everyone can be well informed.

With these targeted measures and the changeover of traffic, the MVB and the city are trying to ensure that passengers are transported smoothly and safe in the future. It remains to be hoped that the construction work will be completed quickly and the restrictions will soon be a thing of the past.

Further information on the current traffic conditions and the construction site status can be found at MVB and tag24 .
