FCM starts with new coach Fiedler: An electrifying start!
Today, June 23, 2025, 1. FC Magdeburg's first day of training for the new season preparation took place in the Magdeburg stadium. Around 150 spectators came to witness the event on site. The new coach Markus Fiedler, who was the last to enter the pitch and took the time to sign autographs, ensured a positive atmosphere from the start.
Training began at 11 a.m. sharp and the team was able to draw on the full complement of personnel. Particularly interesting was the participation of full-back Marcel Zajusch (18) and goalkeeper Felix Güldner (19), both of whom do not yet have a professional contract. Another eye-catcher was Nick Meier, the team's only newcomer, who was immediately integrated into training.
Returnees and injured people
Those returning from their loan spells, Andi Hoti, Robert Leipertz and Aleksa Marusic, were also able to take part in training again. It was particularly pleasing that Herbert Bockhorn and Emir Kuhinja, both of whom had torn cruciate ligaments last season, were back in the game. The team is in good shape, which gives hope for the upcoming season.
As part of the general preparations for the season, which begin in many places at the start of the summer holidays, amateur footballers in the region have also started their training programs. This not only affects the seniors, but also the A and B juniors. The DFB coaching magazine fussballtraining has worked with licensed trainers to create a comprehensive 5-week training program that will get the players fit for the new season.
The program includes specific content for each training day, with a focus on fitness aspects as well as technical and tactical content. Topics such as opening the game through the back four and building up play through the central midfield are central parts of the training plan. The training content for the first five weeks is available to download online, which provides useful support for everyone involved.
With all of these preparations, 1. FC Magdeburg is well on the way to making the leap forward in the coming season. The first impressions make it clear: There’s something going on! The fans can be curious to see how the team will develop under the new management.
