FCM at the start of the season: test game defeat against FC Zurich in Wörishofen!

Bad Wörishofen, Deutschland - The 1st FC Magdeburg intensified his preparations for the new season in the 2nd Bundesliga in Bad Wörishofen. On Thursday, July 10, 2025, players played their last test game against FC Zurich, which took place in the four times 30 minutes mode. Nevertheless, the outcome was anything but gratifying for the Magdeburgers who went 0-2 as a loser. After the game, sports director Otmar Schork and head coach Markus Fiedler answered the media before the team started their journey home. Thanks to the traveling fans and the Parkhotel in Bad Wörishofen for the excellent hospitality.

The goal of the training camp was to give the fans a look behind the scenes. Via interviews, videos and photos, the followers were able to get insights into the everyday life of the team. The preparatory phase will continue in the coming days because the players train individually before the next steps are in Magdeburg.

But that was only the beginning of the season preparation. The 1. FC Magdeburg had previously set some test games. The first Ankick took place on June 25th against the Burger BC, followed by another game on June 28 against SV Dessau 05. The test game series continues: On July 19, the FCM will meet Chemnitz FC and on July 26th there is a highlight of the preparation-the duel against VfL Wolfsburg in the Avnet Arena. The start of the season of the 2nd Bundesliga is planned for August 1, 2025, a week before the Bundesliga starts its new season. The exact game planning will be published on June 27 by the German Football League.
