Foxes Berlin with challenges: Champions League draw 2025!

Magdeburg, Deutschland - The excitement in the handball world is noticeable! The Champions League season 2024/25 is just around the corner, and the challenges that lie in front of the teams should not be underestimated. Marc-Henrik Schmedt, the managing director of SC Magdeburg, comments on the upcoming duels and describes the coming season as exciting and full of opportunities. The focus is particularly on group A, in which Füchse Berlin will compete as an inferior finalist and German champion.

In a group that is anything but simple, the foxes compete with well -known opponents: the Danes of Aalborg Håndbold, Veszprém HC from Hungary, Industria Kielce from Poland and also teams such as HBC Nantes from France, Sporting CP from Portugal and Dinamo Bucharest from Romania are on the list of challengers. Kolstad Håndball from Norway will also deliver exciting encounters. As early as September 10 and 11, 2023, the new season begins with the first match day, followed by a total of eight exciting group match days.

group draw and challenges

As part of the draw of the group phase last Thursday in Vienna, the tickets were mixed up. The Foxes Berlin meet strong opponents such as Paris St. Germain and Wisla Plock in the upcoming Champions League season. SC Magdeburg, who has to assert himself in Group B, faces defending champion FC Barcelona and Aalborg HB, the last finalist. The Magdeburgers also have Industry Kielce, Pick Szeged, HBC Nantes, HC Zagreb and Kolstad HB.

It will be particularly interesting how the German teams will meet in these meetings. SC Magdeburg is ambitious and is in good shape after winning the German final in 2025 against Füchse Berlin with 32:26 and thus securing their second title in the old state championship. Historically, German teams have achieved impressive 21 titles in 33 final participation, whereby VfL Gummersbach is considered the most successful German association.
