A privately used pleasure boat caught fire, which led to a large-scale deployment of emergency services. Luckily, the owners were able to get to safety in time so that no one was injured. Nevertheless, the estimated material damage amounts to between 50,000 and 60,000 euros, as MDR reports.
The extinguishing efforts lasted about two hours, and in order to ensure safety during the operation, the Queen Editha Bridge had to be temporarily completely closed. As a precaution, residents from the surrounding districts of Werder, Cracau and Brückfeld were asked to keep windows and doors closed due to the smoke. It also remained unclear what exactly caused the fire; The investigation into this is still ongoing, as Tag24 reports.
