Magdeburg daycare children celebrate Bauhaus with a creative project!
A special year for the Magdeburg children, because in the sign of the 100th anniversary of the Bauhaus anniversary, the little ones from a Magdeburg daycare center have the opportunity to explore their surroundings and learn in a playful way. The project with the inviting title "My Colorful World" brings the children closer to architecture, culture and music of the historically significant adequacy, which celebrated its 100th birthday in 2023 and is considered the largest area in Europe. The impressive building ensemble, built in the style of new building, invites you to exciting journey of discovery.
The idea for this promising project comes from the dedicated entrepreneur Carmen Niebergall in cooperation with the architect and engineering association. Under the patronage of the federal government, which supports the project, only two kindergartens nationwide have enjoyed funding, and the Magdeburg kindergarten is one of them. The children have the opportunity to research geometric shapes, light shafts, and the special flat roofs of the settlement.
a creative adventure
As part of the project, not only guided visits are planned in the technology museum and puppet theater, but the children are also preparing for the Triadian ballet by Oskar Schlemmer. A highlight that not only stimulates creativity, but also establishes the connection to the art -historical development of the past hundred years. The children themselves made the costumes for the ballet with a lot of imagination and skill. This creative development of the little ones is celebrated at the planned final party on June 24th, and a strict dress code is expected in the style of the 1920s!
The Triadische Ballet itself, published in 1922, is one of the key works of Schlemmer and reflects the artistic currents and challenges of his time. The ballet is characterized by geometric costumes, often made of wood and an expressive, but also critical representation of the human movement. This artistic heritage is now recognized by various exhibitions and events. One of the recent exhibitions that runs under the title "Moved by Schlemmer - 100 Years of Triadic Ballet" brings together the works of internationally renowned artists such as Ulla von Brandenburg and Haegue Yang to shed light on Schlemmer's influence and their current relevance.
A highlight of the Bauhaus tradition
In connection with the history of the Bauhaus, there is also the idea of a "total theater" that Walter Gropius wanted to create. His vision of linking different stage situations and researching the laws of light, space, and music has become more important since the 1960s. The idea of the theater as a multimedia experience has developed and shows how deep the Bauhaus's legacy is still anchored in stage art today. The approach of Schlemmer to focus on people in the room and, thanks to its individual but characteristic creations, at the same time to throw a critical light on the mechanical image of man of his time lives on.
With projects such as "My Colorful World", the heir of the Bauhaus is kept alive from the youngest to great artists. The planned manual, cultural and musical experiences offer valuable insights for the next generations.
