SC Magdeburg defeated Füchse Berlin 32:26 in the eagerly anticipated Champions League final in Cologne. In front of around 20,000 happy fans in the Lanxess Arena, the Magdeburgers took impressive revenge for the defeat in the Bundesliga final, where the Füchse secured the title a few weeks ago. This was the third all-German final in the history of the Champions League and the second to take place in the cathedral city Picture reported.
Good game, good tactics

The Magdeburgers can not only look forward to the Champions League title, but also to prize money of 300,000 euros. The Füchse Berlin go home with 225,000 euros. The trophy itself is impressive: It weighs ten kilos, measures 80 cm high and 57 cm wide and was made from environmentally friendly materials, reports ZDF.
A master rewards himself
For coach Bennet Wiegert, this victory was the second Champions League title as a coach and another highlight in his career, which began 23 years ago as a player in the final. This means that SC Magdeburg prevents a titleless season, the first in five years. The Foxes, however, suffered their first defeat since February.
A final spectacle in Cologne
It looks like the Lanxess Arena in Cologne remains a good place for German handball stories. After a thrilling game and the deserved revenge from SC Magdeburg, we can only hope that we will experience more such exciting duels in the future.
