SC Magdeburg triumphs in Switzerland: Wiegert thrilled!
Great joy at SC Magdeburg! Coach Bennet Wiegert was extremely satisfied with the team's most recent away trip, which spanned five days and took the handball team through Switzerland. The agenda included not only exciting games against Swiss first division teams, but also team-building activities in nature, including an action-packed rafting tour. These additions to exercise provided a successful mix of training and enjoyment. Handball World reports that the team clearly won both against HSC Suhr Aarau with 37:23 and against BSV Bern with 40:25. However, Becker emphasizes that the results in this preparation phase should not be overestimated.
Manuel Zehnder, a SCM player and native of Aarau, raved about the support of the spectators, while Nikola Portner, who once played for BSV Bern, looked back proudly on the encounter with his former club. The game against Bern turned out to be evenly balanced in the first half, but Magdeburg gained a clear advantage as the game progressed. It was a real celebration of handball for the 1,521 spectators in the Mobiliar Arena in Bern.
Preparation for the Wartburg Cup
Both Wiegert and the team have clear goals in mind. In the coming week the focus will be on group tactical processes. The next competition is already around the corner: the Wartburg Cup, which will take place from August 15th to 17th in Eisenach, where the team will compete with TBV Lemgo Lippe and Skanderborg. The anticipation of this challenge is palpable!
This trip after the successful last season, in which SC Magdeburg won the Champions League and the German championship, is not only a continuation of the hard work, but also an appreciation of the club's long history. SC Aufbau Magdeburg was founded in 1955 and has experienced impressive development since then. He is part of the founding team of the top division in the GDR and can look back on several championship titles. Germany’s Elite is completely safe to play.
