Strong performance! SC Magdeburg dominates in Switzerland and is taking off
After an intensive week of training, SC Magdeburg is freshly back from Switzerland. From August 5th to 10th, the team headed by coach Bennet Wiegert went to the mountains, where they took part in two test games. With impressive victories against HSC Suhr Aarau (37:23) and BSV Bern (40:25), the Magdeburgers made people sit up and take notice, but Wiegert urges modesty. “The results should not be overestimated,” says the coach, focusing on improvements in group tactics and processes.
The team's return journey took them through Zurich, Aarau, Bern and Basel, where the focus was not only on sporting achievements, but also on team building and shared experiences. “We have learned a lot and the cohesion in the team has noticeably grown,” said Wiegert.
Preparations for the Wartburg Cup
Now it's time to prepare for the upcoming Wartburg Cup, which takes place from August 15th to 17th. In addition to SC Magdeburg, TBV Lemgo Lippe and the Danish representative Skanderborg will fight for the title. These tournaments are an important stage in the preparation for the coming season and offer coaches the opportunity to try out different tactics and further adjust the team.
Last year, at the Wartburg Cup, SC Magdeburg achieved impressive results. On the second day of the tournament they triumphed against ThSV Eisenach with 31:25. They had also previously won against VfL Gummersbach, which gave them a strong starting position for the tournament. Wiegert emphasizes that these games are not just preparation for the new season, but are also really fun and offer important lessons for team dynamics.
A new era with Steazzi
In addition to the sporting aspects, data collection around handball is also evolving. The platform Steazzi, founded in 2020, is committed to making statistics accessible to everyone. These data analyzes are intended to help teams improve their performance and make strategic decisions. With the support of 30 active coaches on four continents, Steazzi is continually evolving to meet the demands of the modern handball world.
The coming weeks promise to be exciting for both SC Magdeburg and handball in general. With a strong team spirit, a clear strategy and the use of modern analysis, nothing stands in the way of success.
