Magdeburg University Medical Center: Awarded as a theranostics center!

In an outstanding award, the University Clinic for Nuclear Medicine at the University Medical Center Magdeburg (UMMD) recently received the title of ICPO competence center (“Clinical Theranostics Center of Excellence”). This honor was presented at the 25th European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) in Barcelona and represents a significant step in molecular targeted precision oncology. The aim of the competence center, which is the first and only of its kind in eastern and central Germany, is to make treatments with radionuclides more effective and tolerable. The focus is on the individual characteristics of tumors and patients.

The certificate was awarded to Prof. Dr. at the beginning of October 2025. med. Handed over to Michael Kreissl. It recognizes not only the leading role of nuclear medicine at UMMD, but also the alignment with international standards in theranostics. With membership in the ICPO network, the center will actively work to further improve access to high-quality theranostic treatment options.
