Burglaries in Hettstedt: Bicycles and SUPs stolen - police investigated!

In the past few days, the police in Saxony-Anhalt have been confronted with several burglaries and thefts. The region around Hettstedt was particularly affected, where the Richard-Wagner-Straße broke into a garage. Between June 9th and June 15, 2025, the perpetrators stole two bicycles from the "Ghost" brand and two stand-up paddle boards from the "Mistral Tango" brand-a total value of over 1,800 euros. This shows once again that bicycle theft is a widespread problem, as police for you.

In Bornstedt, a parked car was damaged - the rear windshield wiper torn down, the side mirror destroyed and the bumper damaged. In addition, the perpetrators stole the front official license plate. No evidence of the perpetrators is currently known.

Another incident occurred in Eisleben, where a snack car was attacked in front of a supermarket. The perpetrators entered the car and stole cash from the cash register. Such incidents fit into the general trend: According to Statista, around 1.78 million thefts recorded in Germany were registered in Germany, an increase compared to the previous year. Bicycle thefts are particularly common, which make a significant share in this statistics with over 265,000 cases.

Caution is required

Crime as a whole includes all crimes, and the numbers are alarming: Theft, especially bicycles, is still a major problem in Germany. In 2022, more than 23,500 burglaries were registered in North Rhine-Westphalia, whereby the clearance rate was quite low at 16.1 %. In contrast, the clarification rate for car theft is significantly higher at 31.1 %. Nevertheless, there is a certain uncertainty: the feeling that your own property does not pay enough attention is widespread.
