Offer of help in Halle: Lichtung campaigns against sexual violence!

In Halle, a strong signal is being sent against sexualized violence: The specialist advice center “Lichtung”, supported by the Arbeiterwohlfahrt (Awo), offers extensive help for those affected and their relatives. With its headquarters at Wilhelm-Külz-Straße 22, the facility is not only responsible for people from Halle, but also for neighboring districts such as Saale, Burgenlandkreis and Mansfeld-Südharz. Astrid Herrmann-Haase, an experienced sexologist and employee of the advice center, often agrees with the prejudice that clothing like a miniskirt invites attacks and makes it clear: “Clothing and behavior are never a license for aggressive behavior,” like this MZ reported.

Opening of new branch offices

The specialist advice center has exciting news: From July 2025, a branch office will be opening in Sangerhausen at Karl-Liebknecht-Straße 33 to help even more people in the region. Those seeking help can currently also reach the office via SMS and Signal Messenger on 0155 60346912. Telephone calls are still only possible via the landline number, like this AWO Halle-Merseburg supplemented.

Comprehensive support offer

The “Lighting” not only offers direct support for those affected, but also for their relatives and specialists. This includes prevention events and training courses aimed at raising awareness of sexual violence. All offers are free and confidential, which guarantees a safe retreat for everyone seeking advice. The advice center also actively campaigns against discrimination and is in a constant process of critically examining privileges.

The Glade relies on financial support in order to continue to fulfill its important tasks, especially in times when the demand for help is increasing. Donations were considered necessary in order to expand two additional branch offices in the long term. A wish list for urgently needed supplies for the new locations has also been created, according to information from MZ say.

Open hotline for those seeking help

There are also nationwide contact points for anyone who suffers from sexual violence. The hotline for sexual abuse can be reached anonymously and free of charge on (0800) 22 55 530, while “Dare” offers special help for sexual assaults. Young people can also contact the number against grief on 116 111. The list of contacts is diverse and shows that no one is left alone.

It is the community's responsibility to help victims of sexual violence and raise awareness of the services available. At a time when sexual violence is unfortunately still far too big an issue, there are initiatives like Lichtung that educate, support and ensure that help is always at hand.
