Call for donations: 50 children in Mansfeld-Südharz need your help!

In the heart of Mansfeld-Südharz, 50 children are hoping for an unforgettable four-day holiday camp, which is to be organized by the District Children and Youth Ring (KKJR). Unfortunately, the financing of this important leisure measure is still uncertain. As the Central German newspaper reported that there are currently still a lack of numerous donations to fulfill the intended purpose.

In the best case, the leisure time could take place from July 15th to 18th for young people and from July 22nd to 25th for children in the youth forest home in Rathsfeld, Thuringia. However, the Ministry of Social Affairs has not yet implemented the funds available from the state budget. Sangerhäuser state parliament member Matthias Redlich (CDU) is therefore calling for more support to promote such important projects.

Financing problems and appeal for donations

Despite the availability of funds for independent providers, financing holiday camps is difficult. The KKJR has opened a donation account and needs at least 2,400 euros to make the children's leisure time possible. However, the total amount for this measure is 2,800 euros in order to be able to offer additional activities such as a visit to the outdoor pool. Many of the children taking part come from socially disadvantaged families and are dependent on financial support in order to realize such experiences.

So far, only 1,340 euros, which corresponds to 55% of the required amount, have been raised by ten supporters. Donations can be made on the platform www.99funken.de until July 7th so that your free time doesn't fall into waste.

Additional funding opportunities

However, there are other options to consider when it comes to financing. The “Holidays” special fund promotes ideas for holiday measures and is open not only to clubs but also to citizens’ initiatives and non-profit organizations. However, applicants usually have to hope for up to 5,000 euros in funding, and in special cases even up to 10,000 euros, they say German Children and Youth Foundation.

Given the large number of projects that can be funded, it is important for those responsible to obtain the necessary information at an early stage. The German Volunteering Platform emphasizes that education and participation for children and young people are essential building blocks for a positive future.

Overall, it is clear that numerous hurdles must be overcome to ensure that children's leisure activities become a reality. It remains to be hoped that support from the population will arrive quickly, as many families cannot access such offers without help.
