Vandalism in Sangerhausen: Hally-Gally” playground equipment has to go!

Renewed vandalism on the playground on Wilhelm-Koenen-Strasse in Sangerhausen is causing sad faces among children and parents. As the city administration reports, the popular “Hally-Gally” playground equipment had to be dismantled due to significant damage. The wanton destruction not only permanently ruined the mechanics of the device, but also cast a shadow over the joy of the little playground visitors.

The “Hally-Gally”, which was set up two years ago with financial support from Sparkasse Mansfeld-Südharz, was worth around 9,000 euros. The incident is part of a worrying series of acts of vandalism: an in-ground trampoline had previously had to be dismantled because the jumping net was cut and the fall protection mats were torn out. Such acts not only endanger the safety of children, but also cause unnecessary costs that ultimately have to be borne by all citizens.

Review of repair options

Employees at the construction yard are already checking whether it is possible to repair the “Hally-Gally”. In this context, the city administration calls on the population to send information about the acts of vandalism to the town hall or the Mansfeld-Südharz police station. Any information can help identify the perpetrators and increase the safety of playgrounds.

As part of its appeal to citizens, the city is calling for the city's playgrounds to be treated with respect. “Vandalism affects the opportunities for children to use and harms our community,” said a city administration spokesman. It is crucial to protect public infrastructure so that all children can play safely.

We hope for the help and understanding of the Sangerhausen population in this matter. Only together can we ensure that playgrounds remain places of joy and safety for our children in the future.
