In one fell swoop against one of the darkest sides of the cyber world: in Halle the police carried out a large -scale raid against child pornography. On July 3, 2025, a total of 30 search resolutions were carried out. In the sights of the investigators, 32 accused between the ages of 18 and 71, who are suspected of having made and passed on child pornography. After their survey, however, the accused were released again.

But the dimensions of this action are alarming. In a total of 28 buildings in Halle as well as the surrounding districts of Saalekreis and Salzlandkreis and even in Saxony, there were intensified searches. The enforcements are part of a regular strategy of the police that aims to carry out coordinated searches in connection with discriminatory depictions. A central partner in this fight against child pornography is the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA), which has played an important role in combating sexual attacks against children since the 1990s. According to information from the BKA, around 180,300 indications of possible criminal acts are submitted annually, which are spotted by a specially trained team. Of this, the content is examined for possible criminal liability in a short time.

The goal of these measures? A discharge of the state police and the avoidance of double efforts. In cooperation with the American National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), it is about quickly identifying abuse representations and taking the legal steps. The method used is referred to as the "NCMEC process" and allows a quick reaction to new suspected cases.
