Drunk driving with 3.71 per mille: driver taken to hospital!

Last Friday there was a worrying incident in Calbe that brought the road safety situation into focus. How Magdeburg clicks Reportedly, a 38-year-old driver of a Citroen Berlingo was reported by a witness after he was noticed by his very drunk behavior. During a check, an odor of breath alcohol was detected, which was confirmed by a voluntary test - with an alarming 3.71 per mille, the driver was far above the absolute level of unfitness to drive, which applies from 1.1 per mille and is punishable.

The police then decided to immediately prohibit further travel. A blood sample was also taken to secure evidence and the driver's driver's license was confiscated. The driver must move without a vehicle until the judge makes a decision. To make sure he was okay, emergency services were even called in and took him to the hospital.

Influence of alcohol on the road

The importance of driving ability cannot be overemphasized. According to the Heskamp law firm Driving ability is the current ability of a driver to operate a vehicle safely. Impairment caused by alcohol is one of the most common causes of impaired driving. Even small amounts can impair reactions and perception. From 0.3 per mille it is already considered a relative inability to drive, and from 0.5 per mille this is punished as an administrative offense.

The legal measures are strict: a driving license revocation, fines and points in Flensburg are just some of the consequences. What is particularly alarming, however, are the physical and mental risks for all road users. If someone sits behind the wheel with blood alcohol levels as high as 3.71, it is not only a danger to themselves, but also to others.

Road traffic collisions

Another incident occurred on Friday evening in Bernburg when a cyclist fell on Waltherstrasse. As also from Magdeburg clicks Reportedly, this driver was also under the influence of alcohol - a test showed 3.46 per mille. He was taken to the hospital to be treated. In this case, too, the question of driving ability arose because alcohol impairs the ability to safely drive a vehicle, be it a car or a bicycle.

These incidents make it clear how important it is to know the current alcohol limits. According to that ADAC The limit for novice and young drivers is 0.0 per mille. For everyone else, a relative inability to drive applies from 0.3 per mille. The incident in Calbe and the fall in Bernburg give the issue even more urgency.

Break-ins and fires in the region

However, the security situation was not only tense in road traffic. In Staßfurt there was a break-in at a shoe store early in the morning, with unknown perpetrators destroying a window pane with a manhole cover and stealing valuables. The damage amounts to around 1,000 euros. In addition, three passenger cars were completely destroyed by fire in Bernburg on Sunday night, causing material damage of around 100,000 euros. The police have started investigating the cause of the fire and are appealing for information.

At a time when there is increasing focus on road safety and crime, it is desirable that such incidents raise people's awareness and encourage them to comply with the applicable laws. Ultimately, responsibility for safety on our roads lies with each individual. Let us ensure that such events do not become a habit and our community remains safe.
