Fraudsters in Aschersleben: Pensioner catches crooks in the act!

A worrying case of fraud is making headlines in Salzlandkreis. A pensioner from Aschersleben became the target of unscrupulous perpetrators who posed as AGW service employees. According to mz.de this happened at around 6:53 a.m. this morning. The fraudsters told the elderly woman that they had to check radiators and managed to get into the apartment unnoticed. When the perpetrators fled, the shocked pensioner discovered that her apartment had been ransacked. The description of the perpetrators suggests that they looked southern and they left on foot in an unknown direction.

But this is not the only incident that alarms citizens in the Salzland district. Last Thursday afternoon there was also a scam on Hellgraben Street in Aschersleben. Two unknown people posed as fundraisers and went door to door. One of the perpetrators even asked the 79-year-old woman if he could have a glass of water and use the toilet. While the elderly lady searched for the water, his accomplice kept her engaged in conversation while he searched for valuables in her bedroom. Luckily, the elderly woman noticed the theft and shouted at the intruder. The perpetrator was able to escape without loot, reports tag24.de.

The neighbors' reactions

The incident caused a stir in the neighborhood. Numerous citizens agree: everyone has to be careful here! The pensioner's neighbor also fell for the scammers' scam. Both they and the police were informed immediately. The perpetrators fled in a silver Mercedes, with the presence of police indicating a quick response.

Amidst this worrying news, there are also positive things to report.
