Heat-stricken citizens can find refreshment in Aschersleben's Margarethenkirche

The Salzlandkreis has once again spoken out with fresh news. On Wednesday, August 13, 2025, the heat in the region will cause a stir and invite citizens to retreat to shady areas. As the Volksstimme reports, the Margarethenkirche in Aschersleben offers cooling protection from the high temperatures every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. This is a welcome opportunity to find some relaxation and cooling off, especially these days.

In addition, next Sunday, August 17th, the Jewish cemetery on Schmidtmannstrasse will be open to interested visitors from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Here, guests can take part in free guided tours that offer exciting insights into the history of the cemetery. While donations to help maintain the grounds are welcome, male visitors are asked to wear head coverings - a small gesture of respect that is particularly appreciated in these solemn spaces.

Cultural and sports highlights

When it comes to culture, Schönebeck also has a lot to offer. There is currently an impressive exhibition of pictures by the painter Rudolf Pötzsch in the Industrial and Art Museum, which commemorates the 500th anniversary of Thomas Müntzer's death. Those interested in art and history should not miss this event!

But there is also news in the sporting area: The talented D youth player Oskar Ernst Reichel from SV Plötzkau was named best player in the Real Madrid football camp. This not only speaks for his ability, but also for the commitment and youth work of his club.

Urban development and events

A look at the urban development shows that Wobau in Staßfurt has a plan for the demolition and renovation of residential buildings in order to counteract the vacancies in the region. The success is already visible, with the vacancy rate falling from 32% in 2021 to 26% currently. Wobau's ambitious target for the next five years is between 15 and 20%. So something could actually happen here if you show a good hand in planning.

Stadtwerke Bernburg will change its prices from January 1, 2025 and in this context will offer cheaper tariffs for gas. This could mean noticeable relief for some households and is certainly news that many citizens will be happy to note.

The weekly market in Aschersleben attracts numerous visitors and is very popular - especially now that temperatures are rising and fresh, local products are in particular demand. Other regional events have also become established, such as the Halloween event in the Salzland Theater, which attracted more than 50 participants in costumes and was a lot of fun for everyone involved.

The Salzlandkreis remains a place full of activities, information and commitments that make life here more colorful and varied.
