New participation management in Stendal: Strengthening the inclusion on site!

Hospitalstraße 1-2, 39576 Hansestadt Stendal, Deutschland - In Stendal there is fresh news from the social front. The local participation management is now completely occupied again. Johanna Michelis, who has been working actively on projects for some time, is now receiving support from Vanessa Böttcher. This native Tangermünder studied social sciences in Magdeburg and brings a breath of fresh air to the district administration after her job was vacant for months. Patrick Puhlmann, the district administrator of the Stendal district, emphasizes the importance of participation management for the creation of an inclusive social space. The aim of this initiative is to optimally promote the participation of people with impairments.

Participation management goes far beyond administrative tasks. Barriers are uncovered here that prevent people with disabilities in participation. Böttcher and Michelis act as central contact points for administration, those affected, clubs, associations and companies. In the first funding period, significant progress has already been made. People with impairments have been strengthened in their self -efficacy and various participation boards were dismantled. This includes intensive network work, events such as public transport exploration and school projects-all measures that strengthen the awareness of inclusion.

National Action Plan and its importance

The Federal Government's National Action Plan 2.0 plays a crucial role in this context. The aim of this plan is to anchor the inclusion of people with disabilities as a principle in all areas of life. It comprises 175 measures in 13 fields of action and is closely based on the UN Convention on the Rights of Disabilities. This defines disability as an interaction between impairment and existing barriers. This is intended to ensure that people with disabilities have freedom to choose their own living conditions.

An important measure included in NAP 2.0 aims at the professional participation. Legal new regulations and a budget of 230 million euros from the compensation fund are to be achieved sustainable promotion of integration projects. Another central concern remains accessibility in living rooms and in public transport.

challenges in inclusive education

Despite the progress in the area of participation, there is a clear need for action in education. While inclusive education is becoming more important worldwide, it is still unconditional implementation in Germany. The educational goal of the UN sustainability agenda has been calling for equal opportunities in education for everyone, regardless of social or economic background, since 2015. Nevertheless, the broad concept of inclusion is often seen too closely, which also pushes other students into the background.

A critical point is the discussion about the special schools, which are still considered necessary in Germany, although the UN Convention on the Rights of Disabilities guarantees including education for everyone. UNESCO reports confirm that Germany lags behind in the implementation of inclusion. In addition to financial resources, the necessary personnel resources are often missing to ensure including educational offers. This means that many children and adolescents, especially those with a migration background, are disadvantaged early in their educational success.

For all of these points, it is important to actively sensitize and develop strategies that make the education system more fair and inclusive. The participants in Stendal are available as an important point of contact. You can be reached by phone on 03931 607194/96 or by email, and monthly consultation days in the district administration offer the opportunity for personal advice. The next speaking day will take place on Tuesday, July 15, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
