Stendal's new website: More overview for citizens and visitors!

On July 1, 2025, the Hanseatic city of Stendal put its newly designed website online. The revised platform not only promises greater clarity, but also easier navigation for all citizens and visitors. Mayor Bastian Sieler emphasizes that the focus is on modern design and user-friendliness. Particularly important is the easy-to-find information about events, closures and construction sites, which is intended to make everyday life easier for Stendal residents. The website is now at www.stendal.de reachable.

The redesign also includes a unification of the service portal and main page, so that all information is bundled in one central location. Visitors can now easily access content from municipal institutions such as the Altmärkisches Museum, the Tiergarten, the music forum, the registry office and the city library. A new event calendar allows citizens and external organizers to register their events, which strengthens cultural diversity and community.

Cultural diversity in Stendal

Stendal is not only the largest city in the Altmark in Saxony-Anhalt, but is also one of the oldest cities in the old March of Brandenburg, with its first documented mention in 1022. The city offers numerous historical sights that date back over 1000 years of history. Particularly outstanding is the market ensemble, which includes the third largest Roland in Germany, the town hall with its Renaissance gables and the towers of the Ratskirche St. Marien. The town hall also has the oldest secular carved wall in Germany, which fascinates visitors.

The city has other highlights for those interested in culture, including the Winckelmann Museum, the Altmark Theater and the Altmärkisches Museum. Anyone interested in automobiles will find an impressive collection of classic cars in the Nordwall Classic Garage. Active nature lovers can also go on bike tours through the picturesque landscape of the Uchtetal and discover the traces of the Hanseatic League. Accessibility in focus

The new website is not only user-friendly, but also barrier-free. Important functions such as adjusting the font size and a text reading function are particularly beneficial for people with different needs. These measures are part of Saxony-Anhalt's comprehensive efforts to create high-quality and barrier-free holiday offers for all citizens. The Ministry of Economic Affairs works together with tourism organizations to continually improve product and service quality.

The “Travel for All” offers and the certification of tourism businesses ensure that the special needs of different groups of people are taken into account. With almost 200 certified tourism businesses, Saxony-Anhalt sets standards in accessibility and shows that the topic is anchored in the “Master Plan Tourism 2027” as a cross-sectional task. Stendal's offerings can also be used easily by older people, families or people with disabilities.

Feedback from users of the new website is welcome, whether by email, telephone or social media. With this initiative, Stendal shows that the city not only cares about its citizens, but also aims to offer visitors a welcoming and comprehensive experience.
