Five new professors at MLU Halle: Innovation in research and teaching!

In autumn 2025, the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg (MLU) welcomed some new faces to teaching. Five professors took up their positions in the third quarter, bringing a breath of fresh air to the city's academic landscape. Dubisthalle reports that The appointments concern the Faculty of Philosophy II and the Faculty of Medicine, which means an exciting development for research and teaching at MLU.

In the Philosophical Faculty II, Jun.-Prof. Dr. Ina Schenker from the University of Bremen has taken over the W1 professorship for “Inter- and Transcultural Studies” since September 1, 2025. Her expertise will certainly help to further advance intercultural dialogue at MLU.

New perspectives in sports science and medicine

Another new addition is Jun.-Prof. Dr. Robert Stojan, who was also appointed to MLU in September to head the W1 professorship for “Sport Science with a focus on Movement Science”. Stojan brings fresh perspectives that could increase the incentive for students to get involved in the field of sports science.

The Medical Faculty has no less exciting innovations to offer. Intercultural studies in focus

In addition to these exciting appointments, there are also developments in the field of intercultural studies. Particular attention is paid to the magazineinterculture journal, which has been published since 2012 and deals with topics related to intercultural studies. WV Berlin reports that the publication makes a valuable contribution to the discussion about cultures and their exchange. With a fee of 18 euros for the first issue and 22 euros for subsequent issues, the journal offers current research results in an attractive format.

The magazine has already published several issues, including the last one in 2024, which deals with intercultural aspects of society. Topics such as migration, integration and intercultural communication are the focus and are of central importance for the current social agenda in Germany.

Internationalization of studies and research

Another important topic is the internationalization of universities in Germany. The publicationScience cosmopolitan compact 2025, published by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), offers comprehensive insights into the current situation. Pedocs describes, how internationalization in higher education and science has been analyzed since 2001 and which key figures play a role. This year's edition clearly presents the mobility of students and scientists and provides valuable data on the international networking of universities.
