Orange Ohio Strengthens Safety: New Police Officer and Firefighter Appointed!
The community of Orange, Ohio, has recently taken important steps to strengthen its security services. The local council has decided to hire a new full-time police officer and a part-time firefighter to meet the needs of residents. How Cleveland.com reports, Christen Muir was appointed as a patrol officer. Muir brings eight years of law enforcement experience and began her career with the John Carroll University Police Department, where she served for four years. She has been with the Kirtland Hills Police Department for the past four years and qualified as a field instructor. In addition to being crash certified, she has received several awards, including the notable achievement of delivering a baby while on duty.
A fresh face on the fire department is Chase Borgia, who has been brought in as a part-time firefighter and emergency medical technician. The 2025 graduate of Olmsted Falls High School is the son of an Orange Police Department investigator and successfully completed his basic emergency medical technician training while in school. He also received his firefighter certification from the Cuyahoga Community College Fire Training Academy over the summer and is now in the midst of the paramedic program at University Hospitals in Parma. Mayor Judson Kline administered the oath of office to both new employees, thereby securing the start of their new tasks.
Technical innovations for the community
The council also approved the purchase and installation of a new LED sign for the community center. This new sign will offer an improved display with a pitch of just 8 millimeters and, thanks to modern technology, enables automatic brightness adjustment and quick remote message updates. The price of this technical investment is a maximum of $33,343 and the existing sign, in operation since 2015, has a lifespan of around ten years.
In addition, the local council has decided to purchase a hook lift truck and a snow plow and gritting machine, which will cost up to $168,091. These investments are made through the Ohio Cooperative Purchasing Program and the new truck will replace an existing salt truck. However, commissioning will not occur before the 2026-27 snow season.
Emergency management and security standards
In this context, the importance of sound emergency management should not be underestimated. A systematic approach like that in BSI standard 100-4 can help to ensure the continuity of business operations in authorities and companies. The main tasks include increasing reliability, preparing for emergencies and crises, and quickly resuming key business processes after a failure. The BSI standard also provides a framework for establishing effective emergency management, which is beneficial for everyone involved.
The municipality of Orange is promoting the safety of its citizens with its new measures and advanced technology and is thus showing a good hand for the future.
