Huge hype about the BMW Concept Speedtop: luxury coupé already sold out!
The huge hype surrounding BMW's new luxury model, the Concept Speedtop, is keeping the automotive world in suspense. The vehicle was completely sold out before the official presentation at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on May 23, 2025. With only 70 examples offered worldwide, this exclusive shooting brake style coupe is aimed at a hand-picked group of automotive enthusiasts and collectors. After the first presentation, insiders are convinced that the price for this masterpiece will be at least 500,000 euros, making the Speedtop one of the manufacturer's most expensive models. Chip reports that many competitors are also making big eyes.
The Speedtop's design combines the elegance of a coupe with the practicality of a hatchback. The aggressive V-shaped “Shark Nose” at the front immediately catches the eye. An illuminated grille and a roof that runs from Floating Sunstone Maroon to Floating Sundown Silver add additional charm. In particular, the specially designed 14-spoke wheels in a two-tone version complete the elegant overall picture. Oliver van Hooydonk, head of design at BMW, sees the Speedtop as an important statement for the future of the range, especially in the area of touring models. Canalcarro highlights that BMW views concept vehicles as works of art designed to increase brand value and attract collectors.
Impressive technology
The Concept Speedtop is not only a feast for the eyes, but also a technical masterpiece. Equipped with a 4.4 liter biturbo V8 engine taken from the M8 Competition, the Speedtop produces over 600 hp and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just around 3.3 seconds. With a powerful torque of 750 Newton meters and a ZF eight-speed gearbox as well as all-wheel drive, the car promises a sporty ride in a class of its own. The vehicle also offers front-only seating and creates an exquisitely high-quality ambience with its luxurious interior, which combines brown and light leather as well as handcrafted details and Swarovski crystals in the headrests. Chip also reports on a specially designed, two-part luggage compartment with tailor-made Schedoni bags are equipped.
The tradition of BMW
BMW looks back on a long history, which began in 1916 when it was founded as Bayerische Flugzeugwerke and the manufacturer initially specialized in aircraft engines. After the First World War, the company diversified and entered the market in 1923 with the R 32 motorcycle. In 1928, BMW took over the Eisenach vehicle factory and introduced the first car, the “Dixi”. The iconic radiator grille, the so-called “kidney” design, first appeared on the BMW 303 in 1933. With the introduction of modern series, BMW quickly became the epitome of sporty sedans. Over the decades, the company has established itself as an innovation leader in the automotive industry and today produces in over 30 plants on four continents. [BMBayer](https://bmwbayer.de/die-geschichte-von-bmw-von- Flugzeugmotoren-zum-luxusautomobil/) emphasizes that despite the challenges of electromobility, BMW remains true to its brand core of “joy of driving”.
