From Jena to Berlin: Father fights for non-binary daughter in custody!
In a moving appeal, Wolfram Jarosch is currently moving from Jena to Berlin, a distance of over 300 kilometers, in a little more than a week. His goal? To attract attention for his daughter Maja T., a nonbinary activist who has been in a Hungarian prison for over a year. After a month in hunger strike, she has already lost over 12 kilograms and seriously suffers from health problems. Maja was recently laid at a distance of 260 kilometers from prison. Her health is heading to and Jarosch is determined to do everything to request her back over to Germany.
Jarosch describes his project as a call for help to Foreign Minister Johann WadePhul and the Chancellor. He has a petition with 100,000 signatures in his luggage, which absolutely demands the return of his daughter. His wife Tanja accompanies him on his hike, transports the luggage by bike and ensures that her joint undertaking runs smoothly. Jarosch has covered around 150 kilometers in the last four days and is not afraid to express his concern about the inhumane conditions of detention. In the cells there are bed bugs and cockroaches, which it describes as scandalous.
The circumstances of the detention
Maja T. was arrested in Budapest in February 2023 after she was accused of attacking several right -wing extremists. However, Jarosch emphasizes the presumption of innocence and points out that no witnesses have identified them so far. Immediately after an urgent decision by the Federal Constitutional Court, which prohibited the delivery, Maja was nevertheless transferred to Hungary. This happened at a moment that Jarosch feels coordinated as a coordinated campaign, since other countries have successfully resisted similar deliveries. The Berlin Chamber Court had initially approved the delivery, but later it was classified as illegal.
Maja T. is currently in court in Budapest, and the process is interrupted by September. The accusation resulting from her detention could lead it to a prison sentence of up to 24 years. During the summer break of the procedure, an application for house arrest was rejected. This summer hole brings with it many questions, especially because the best solution for Maja has so far remains unclear. The Federal Foreign Office and the Federal Ministry of Justice emphasize that any departure objects must be decided by Hungarian courts.
an active entry for human rights
The situation of Maja T. is also seen as part of a major problem that affects the treatment of non-binemolies and queer in Hungary. Hungary has enforced an increasingly anti-queer legislation in recent years, which seriously endangers the legal existence of non-bobsleigh people. Again and again it is referred to the inhumane conditions of detention that are considered to be a violation of fundamental human rights in progressive societies.
Jarosch comments on the inactivity of politics and attributes his commitment to the urgent need to fight for the rights and life of his daughter. In the meantime, the Federal Government is asked to finally work to improve the conditions of detention and to re -transfer Maja T. to Germany. So far, their hopes for all political efforts in the shade of a oppressive political situation that has become a challenge for many people in Hungary. The queer and non-binary people are particularly affected, a situation that cannot be ignored in Europe.
