Two new head teachers for Wittenberg primary schools at the start of school in 2025!
At the beginning of the new school year there is a breath of fresh air at two Wittenberg primary schools. Eva-Elise Wollschläger and Tobias Berger take over the management of the “Heinrich Heine” elementary school in the Reinsdorf district and the Diesterweg elementary school in Lutherstadt Wittenberg. These changes were initiated by Sylvia Berger, the school subject specialist at the State School Office, during the summer holidays mz.de reports.
Wollschläger is no stranger to the “Heinrich Heine” school. She has been working there since 2013 and has been acting as head of the school since September 2024. Her teaching career in Saxony-Anhalt began in 2009 and she has extensive qualifications: In addition to German and mathematics, she also teaches non-fiction lessons and has a license to teach English. Her predecessor, Birgit Wutow, retired on August 1, 2025, for which she received thanks from the state education authority for the work she had done.
New headmaster at the Diesterweg primary school
Tobias Berger also succeeds an experienced colleague after he was seconded to the Diesterweg primary school on an hourly basis until the end of June. He has been a teacher since 2013 and joined the school service in Saxony-Anhalt in 2017. Berger gained his first management experience last year when he worked temporarily in Zahna-Elster. His focus areas include mathematics and general education, and he was also appointed to the new position by Sylvia Berger.
Student transportation and support in Saxony-Anhalt
While the new school principals take up their positions, there is also important news about student transport in the Harz district. This will apply there from the start of school in 2024/25 Germany ticket for all eligible students. This ticket is issued as a chip card with a QR code and replaces the previous student ticket. The cost of the ticket is covered by the Harz district without the parents having to submit a separate application. This means that around 6,500 students in grades 1 to 10 will receive a modern ticket that is also valid during the holidays.
The question of covering the costs of school transport is regulated differently regionally in Saxony-Anhalt. In the Saale district, for example, students in the first to fourth grades can claim Germany tickets if the distance to school is over 2 km, while for grades 5 to 10 there is a limit of more than 3 km. MDR reports that in many districts the Central German Transport Association chooses the Deutschlandticket as the cheapest fare.
These new developments not only bring a breath of fresh air to school management, but also significantly improve the mobility of students in the region. A good start to the new school year for everyone involved!
