Bautzen: From July 28th – access to the gymnasium is temporarily closed!

Bautzen is on the verge of a major change in the cityscape: construction work on the access to the new gymnasium at the Dr. Salvador Allende High School will begin on July 28, 2025. These measures require a temporary closure of the access to the garages “Dr.-Salvador-Allende-Straße – Betonplatte” and “Dr.-Salvador-Allende-Straße 4 – Hohlweg”. The exact duration of the closure will be determined in coordination between the city of Bautzen and the contracted construction company STB-See, reports Saxon.

The city administration informs that the affected garage users will be informed in a timely manner by the construction company via notices in the driveway or directly in the garage complex. Possible transit times for access to the garages will also be discussed in order to save residents further inconvenience. Both the construction company STB-See and the civil engineering department of the city of Bautzen are available to answer any questions, as the official announcements from bautzen.de point out.

Traffic situation in Bautzen

While construction work on the new gymnasium is in full swing, Bautzen is also struggling with other structural measures. On the B156, in the direction of Senftenberg to Bautzen, one lane between Sdier and Zschillichau can only be used alternately. This construction site is expected to remain in place until December 31, 2025, which of course also has an impact on traffic, such as Traffic situation reported.

In addition to these long-term construction sites, a traveling construction site has been set up on the A4 between Am Wacheberg rest area and Bautzen-Ost. The hard shoulder here is currently closed, and the work will last between June 30, 2025 and July 11, 2025. This creates additional challenges in road traffic.

With this planned and ongoing construction work, the city of Bautzen must think carefully about how it will manage traffic and reduce the inconvenience for residents and road users to a minimum. Timely information and coordination between the city and construction companies seems to be the key to making the whole thing as smooth as possible.
