Bischofswerda fights its way to a draw against Bautzen – pure drama!

In the football league duel between Bischofswerdaer FV and Budissa Bautzen, the tense game ended last Sunday with a 1-1 draw at the beautiful Volksbank Arena. “A result like this is always bitter and sweet at the same time,” said many fans who were present with a fresh 568 spectators. This was the ninth competitive derby between both teams since Bischofswerdaer were relegated from the regional league in 2021.

The game started promisingly for the guests from Bautzen, who took the lead in the 34th minute through Julien Hentsch with a precise low shot. This remarkable performance underlined the offensive strength of the Bautzen team, who came close to making the game decisive early on several times. “We could have gone into the half-time break with two goals,” said Bautzen’s coach after the match, alluding to his team’s missed opportunities. But Bischofswerdaer FV remained focused and showed fighting spirit.

An exciting balance

In the second half, the hosts showed morale and pushed for an equalizer. In the 74th minute the time had come: Luis Bürger grabbed the ball and scored the 1-1 with a great shot. This goal created a cheering atmosphere among the Bischofswerdaer FV supporters and kept the hope of a victory alive.

The balance of the derby games between Bischofswerda and Bautzen is now pretty even: out of nine matches, four ended in a draw. Bischofswerda can look forward to three wins, while Bautzen can only boast two victorious duels.

Strong performances from the league

The third matchday of the NOFV-Oberliga Süd brought many interesting encounters throughout the league. In the duel between Freital and Stendal, the guests from Freital showed impressive performances and ultimately won 3-0. Adler, Schiemann and Herold scored for Freital. This also meant that VfL Halle 1896 took over the lead in the table and triumphed 3-1 in Grimma. Players like Jagupov proved to be indispensable players for the Halle team.

A look at the other results of the match day shows that sport in the Oberliga Süd is more than lively. Among other things, the match between Wernigerode and VFC Plauen ended with a 1:2, with Plauen able to maintain its lead. They were anything but successful in Heiligenstadt and have remained winless so far this season.
