The local sewing room of the neighborhood aid association (NHV), under the direction of Rosel Buntrock, is a popular meeting place for creative hobby sewers. Every Wednesday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., a total of 15 enthusiasts meet here to exchange ideas and sew together. The sewing room has been offering a valuable platform for many years to share experiences and learn new things. Eight donated sewing machines are available to the participants, while Rosel Buntrock also offers sewing courses for newcomers. After only four days of three hours, the participants can safely handle the sewing machine.

The sewing room also offers a special way to live out your own creativity. On Sunday, June 22nd, the group will sell self-sewn shopping or bracket bags at the "Remmi-Demmi in the Park" event. The fabrics for this are donated by the population and the income flow into the purchase of sewing thread or ironing fleece. The festival takes place in the family park (Street of Peace) in the Hoyerswerdaer Neustadt from 2 p.m. and has many activities such as bouncy castles and handicrafts.

The new fabric business "Ellenlang"

A fresh breeze also blows through the Kirchstrasse, where Andrea Seibt recently opened her business "Ellenlang". Pocket lovers and fashion enthusiasts find a large selection of fabrics on the corner of the Langen Straße, especially jersey and cotton that breastfeed the creative hunger. Seibt, who previously operated a similar business in Kamenz, also brought some of its Dutch and Hungarian substances to round off the selection. Many customers from Hoyerswerda previously took the long way to Kamenz to stock up on materials. Now you can look forward to high -quality fabrics right on the doorstep.

In addition to the fabrics, Seibt also offers tips for selection of fabric, work instructions and accessories. She feels particularly addressed by young women who want to discover sewing again. Sewing courses are also planned to pass on the skills and introduce them to the sewing community.
