Oberliga test games: Freital, Bautzen and Bischofswerda weak!
At the weekend things finally got going again on the football pitches of the major league. In a first round of test matches, the teams showed their best side, although the results were not entirely pleasing for some. SC Freital scored in a duel against regional league team FSV Zwickau in front of 525 spectators and had to admit defeat 1-2.
However, Freital got off to a brilliant start: Philip Weidauer put his colors in the lead with a penalty in the 2nd minute. But the celebration was short-lived because Lucas Albert turned things around - first with an overhead kick in the 31st minute, then in the 62nd minute with a header from a corner, which secured Zwickau a deserved victory. After falling behind, Zwickau, as fsv-zwickau.de assured, was stronger and dominated the action, while Freital was hardly able to create any chances in the second half.
A successful start for Zwickau
For Zwickau, this game was the first real test after an intensive week of training, as the coach and players emphasized after the match. The initial phase saw Freital deliver some dangerous attacks, but over time the Zwickau team took command. Keeper Matti Kamenz kept Freital in the game again and again in the second half, but even his helping hand in saves wasn't enough to turn things around. Zwickau's new signing Clemens Boldt came into goal in the second half and mastered his effort confidently.
The next challenges lie ahead
It is now important for SC Freital to keep their heads up and prepare for the next friendly against FC Carl Zeiss Jena on Friday. A lot can change in a very short time and perhaps Freital will be able to make a positive impression against another fourth division team.
But it wasn't just Freital who did poorly in the test match. Budissa Bautzen also had to admit defeat 2:5 in the duel against regional league promoted team BFC Preussen. Surprisingly, Maurice Gabriel was in goal and the team conceded five goals by halftime. Captain Jannik Käppler was able to score at least two goals for Budissa with a free kick and newcomer Oscar Haustein. After a complete change at halftime, the team improved and was more compact compared to the first half.
Intense duels in the top league
The top league has had a lot of excitement and talent to offer in recent years. Bischofswerda, on the other hand, lost its friendly match against Czech third division club Arsenal Ceska Lipa 0-1. Managing director Frank Terks noted that the game was very intense and the opponent was anything but weak. The kickers in the major league have to pull themselves together now because they need to prepare optimally for the coming season.
The next few weeks will certainly be exciting for all fans of major league football and we can only hope that the local teams can stabilize quickly and narrow the gap to the regional league teams. The start of the new season is just around the corner and there is certainly still a lot to do.
