Coach change at Post Germania Bautzen: Laue goes, Schubert comes!
An era is coming to an end: Thomas Laue, who has no longer been the head coach of the regional football club SV Post Germania Bautzen since July 1, 2023, will continue to support the club in a new role as sporting director. Laue was active for the club as a player and coach for over 15 years and had a significant influence on Bautzen's football history. But after unfortunate games, such as the 2-1 defeat in the district cup final against Aufbau Deutschbaselitz, a change became necessary. Bautzen will have to assert itself in the Saxony Cup and will face Dresdner SC in the first round, either on August 16th or 17th, 2023. Despite the unfortunate situation surrounding the sending off in the previous game, the club hopes for further successful appearances in this prestigious competition, which was launched in 1991 and is considered by many to be one of the biggest challenges for Saxon teams Wikipedia notes.
New chapter under new management: Robert Schubert will take over as the new head coach. He worked at SV Oberland Spree until the end of 2024 and brings a breath of fresh air. Assistant coach Oliver Schulze has now ended his position, which means a fundamental reorganization for the team. There are also personnel changes in the squad: players like Marco Müller, Maximilian Melde, Felix Meißner and Kevin Noack are no longer part of the team. However, fresh talent is being integrated into the squad through Dawid Sauer from U19 Budissa Bautzen and Nils Stöltzner from Blau-Weiß Neschwitz.
Bautzen's chances in the Saxony Cup
The Saxony Cup offers SV Post Germania Bautzen an excellent platform to compete against well-known competitors. The cup winner qualifies for the DFB Cup and therefore has the chance to make an impression in national competitions. The current record winner is Chemnitzer FC with an incredible 12 titles, followed by other strong teams such as FC Erzgebirge Aue and Dynamo Dresden. Even though Bautzen had an unfortunate exit from the district cup last season, the hope for better results in the coming cup round remains high, especially since they received a bye in the 1st round of the district cup.
With a starting place in the Saxony Cup and a new coaching team, SV Post Germania hopes to soon win back the hearts of the fans. The first step towards this will be taken in the coming weeks with the first meeting against Dresdner SC, and the anticipation couldn't be greater.
