Chemnitz November highlights: fair, Christmas market and mountain parade!
There are exciting events coming up in Chemnitz in November that attract both locals and visitors. Particularly noteworthy is the annual market, which takes place on Monday, November 3rd, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. around the Chemnitz town hall. An extensive range of goods is offered by traders in the areas around the market, the Neumarkt, the Rosenhof and the Innere Klosterstrasse up to Jakobikirchplatz. There really is something for everyone here, which promises to be a great shopping experience! [Chemnitz.de].
If the fair at the town hall isn't enough for you, there is another visitor magnet from November 4th to December 31st. The weekly market is moving and will now take place in the area at the Red Tower due to preparations for the Chemnitz Christmas market. However, the weekly market is somewhat smaller, with opening hours from Tuesday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Saturdays (November 8th, 15th and 22nd) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please note that there will be no weekly market from December 24th to 29th, but will reopen on Tuesday December 31st from 9am to 12pm.
Christmas anticipation in Chemnitz
Aspects of the pre-Christmas period should also be mentioned by name. On Saturday, November 8th, the Christmas tree is expected on the market square, a further step towards the Chemnitz Christmas market, which will take place in the city center from November 28th to December 23rd. The ceremonial opening will take place on November 28th at 4 p.m. by Mayor Sven Schulze. Here, visitors can look forward to around 200 stands offering a variety of Christmas treats and gift ideas - ideal for last-minute presents! The Christmas market's opening times are Monday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. A special exception is planned on November 28th from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. After the Christmas market, there will be supplies on Neumarkt and Düsseldorfer Platz until January 3, 2026.
Regional events at the end of the year
And that's not all! The European Mountain Parade will take place on Saturday November 29th at 2 p.m. Participants from the Erzgebirge as well as friendly clubs from Germany and neighboring countries will march on the running route: Theaterplatz - Richard-Tauber-Straße - Street of Nations - Brückenstraße - Theaterstraße back to Theaterplatz. The whole thing is rounded off with a final concert on Theaterplatz.
We also shouldn't forget the market for grave decorations, which will take place from November 7th to 23rd from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. near the cemetery on Reichenhainer Straße. An ideal offering for memorial items, flowers, wreaths and cemetery arrangements.
