Dorian Gray conquers Chemnitz: Fantastic theater in July!
Impressive cultural highlights are on the program in Chemnitz this July. One of the main attractions is the production of **”The Picture of Dorian Gray”** in the Küchwald, which is based on the timeless work of Oscar Wilde. On July 4th and 5th at 8 p.m. you have the opportunity to experience the captivating story of Dorian Gray and his obsessive search for eternal youth. As MDR reports, the performance takes place in an exquisite Gothic novella atmosphere with stone walls and Victorian clothing.
Dorian Gray has his portrait painted by a painter and falls in love with his likeness. To preserve his beauty forever, he wishes for his image to age while remaining untouched by time. This fateful decision leads him down a selfish path and he mortgages his soul, so that from now on his portrait bears the traces of his dissolute life - and is transformed into an ugly grimace, as Theater-Chemnitz describes.
