Drug detective at the main train station: Tunisians caught with heroin!
An exciting incident occurred at Chemnitz main train station on June 18, 2025, which attracted the attention of the federal police. A 42-year-old Tunisian was arrested after nine and a half clip bags containing a total of 10 grams of a brown substance were discovered on him. This case stands in the shadow game between drug trafficking and the challenges of residence rights that concern many of those affected in Germany. Picture reported that the substance was identified as heroin by the arrestee.
The authorities initially checked him because of his expired ID and the fact that no new application for his toleration had been submitted. According to police records, the man is known for his previous drug convictions and is suspected of illegal residence. After the arrest, the state police were involved in the investigation and the drugs were handed over to the federal police for further processing.
Another drug discovery at the main train station
But that wasn't the only incident at the main train station. On June 14, 2023, a 63-year-old German who caught the attention of the federal police was arrested. The officers immediately noticed his nervous demeanor. Press portal documented that a total of 12 grams of crystal meth was discovered during a search of his bag. He had hidden this substance in a pencil case, which strengthened the suspicion that drug trafficking was spreading further. The man, who also had previous convictions for drug offenses, was taken to the police station, where additional clip bags were seized.
Both incidents are part of a larger problem in Chemnitz, where drug trafficking is increasing. As alarming as these arrests are, they are not isolated incidents. A 23-year-old man who was picked up at the same location also showed unusual behavior and tried to evade control. Despite his attempts to escape, he was caught and confronted for his 100 grams of cannabis and 9,801 euros in cash. He had also previously made negative headlines several times because of drug-related issues. Radio Chemnitz summarizes that the 24-year-old companion with 30 grams of marijuana also did not get away unscathed and was taken into custody because of an unpaid fine of 450 euros.
These incidents show that the federal police are increasingly taking action against drug crimes and are intensifying controls at the main train station in order to send a clear signal against drug trafficking. However, the links between tolerance issues and drug offenses continue to raise new challenges that need to be overcome. It remains to be seen what the next few days will bring and whether further quintessences from these arrests will emerge.
