The anticipation for the Makers United Festival in Chemnitz is growing, because the city will be named European Capital of Culture in 2025. This title not only brings shine and gloria, but also a lot of creative ideas and energetic initiatives. As part of the festival, the residence program will take place for the second time this year and create such a platform for the exchange between artists: inside and creative places in Saxony href = "https://www.mdr.de/nachrichten/sachsen/chemnitz/chemnitz-stollberg/mach-festival-makers-united-startet-kulturat-kultur-news-100.html"> MDR reported.

The artist and project manager Liar van de Laar attaches particular importance to networking and exchange, which have already worn great fruits last year. With a colorful mix of participants: inside, including international maker, the festival brings a fresh air to Chemnitz. One example is the programmer Akiko Takahashi from Leipzig, which not only developed an innovative chat bot for seniors, but also created a special Japanese scattering spice to build culinary bridges between Japan and Germany.

diversity and creativity make it visible

The Mitmacht Festival offers the participants a unique opportunity to show their creative skills. From jewelry design made of plastic to laser art to traditional craft techniques - the diversity is very popular. So artist Mandy Müller will show how a clock is made from basket, and Simón Albers plans an exciting lecture for children at the children's university with the topic of everyday psychology.

The Residenz program for 2025 will play a special role by integrating nine makerhubs in Chemnitz, as makers-united.de . These hubs, including Chemnitz and Kulturwerk Schneeberg, offer residencies of up to one month. The application for these international residencies runs until March 12, 2025 and attracts maker from all over the EU. The invited 50 international makers will have the opportunity to actively participate in the festival and present their innovative projects.

set a sign for the region

The appointment of Chemnitz ’the Capital of Culture 2025 has the potential to initiate sustainable changes in the region. As chemnitz2025.de , significant topics are to be made visible and people are brought together. The aim is to make West Saxony a more livable and more powerful region on the European map.

The use of art and culture as part of Makers United will not only bring creative minds together, but also promote investments in the future of this industrial region. This could be the starting signal for an exciting era in Chemnitz that radiates far beyond the city limits. The coming months already promise a lively festival where creative minds will come together and sprout new ideas!
