L’Osteria conquers Saxony: New restaurants in Chemnitz, Dresden and Leipzig!

The L’Osteria has pulled a big thing ashore in Saxony and opens three new locations in Chemnitz, Dresden and Leipzig. This project was implemented by Schwitzke Project from Düsseldorf and is within the framework of a strategic growth initiative of the company, which now has over 200 locations in Europe. A good knack for Italian attitude to life and large portions, advertised at a fair price, makes L’Osteria particularly popular with visitors.

The opening in Chemnitz took place in February 2025. An impressive location on the Rosenhof with an area of 475 square meters was created here. The structural challenges were not to be underestimated: During the renovation work, around 80 breakthroughs had to be made in solid concrete from a former GDR panel building. These extensive work testify to the complexity of the interior design, which was carried out under special structural conditions.

reopening on the main street in Dresden

Another restaurant in Dresden opened its doors at the beginning of April. On the main street, L’Osteria put everything on its feet on 500 square meters, which is necessary for a gastronomic experience. The construction work only lasted 13 weeks and, in addition to soil and wall work, also included careful coordination of the partners for kitchen, ventilation and refrigeration technology. A great success that only increases the anticipation for the new gastronomic offer in the city.

The opening point was the opening in Leipzig, which was planned for the end of May 2025. Here the new restaurant extends over a spacious 940 square meters, of which 540 square meters of the restaurant area are awarded. Due to the international German gymnastics festival, the construction was shortened to only nine weeks at the customer's request. Here, too, weekend work and night shifts have been used to be able to open on time. Wolfgang Sigg, Managing Director of Schwitzke Project, emphasized the structural challenges as well as the importance of precise planning and good coordination in a press release.

The gastronomy is not only faced with exciting new openings, but also with its challenges. The past few years have left traces: closures, shortage of skilled workers and increasing prices are demanding their toll. According to an IW study, the industry has lost most employees relatively, and many restaurateurs: inside have enormous difficulties in keeping the salaries of their employees: at the same time the operating costs rise.

VAT on food and drinks will be increased from 7 % to 19 % from January 1, 2024 - a measure that should lead to price increases. This change will also focus on the demand for out-of-home catering. Gastronomy can only adapt to these changes through creative solutions and transparent communication with the guests.

The more the expansion of L’Osteria can be seen as a positive example of the courage for further development in a challenging market. It remains to be seen how the new locations will assert themselves in Saxony, but the anticipation is great and the chances are not bad!
