These codes, which are emblazoned in a green frame, can simply be scanned with the "authentic.network" app. The highlight: In original bottles, the app shows a green hook that confirms the user that it holds a real product in his hands. This initiative lifts the Chemnitz start -up culture to a new level and underlines the trend to promote innovations directly from the region.

But not everything in Chemnitz is gold that shines. An alarming problem has spread to several automatic parking ticket machines from the city. Manipulated QR codes were discovered at 13 locations, which appeared primarily at hotspots such as the grain market and Hartmannstrasse. Fraudsters have unpacked the stitch of the "quising", in which fake stickers are glued to the machines. These do not lead users to the actual Easypark app, but on fake websites such as Easypark.Live. Sensitive data such as vehicle data and credit card information are queried there. The real QR codes, on the other hand, only refer to the app or the app store without having to enter personal information.

Caution when scanning QR codes

The city of Chemnitz reacts to this wave of fraud and announced regular controls of the parking machines. A criminal complaint was also submitted to the police. The city administration emphasizes that users who fell on the fraudulent side should report to the police immediately. An important note for all drivers: Before scanning, it should always be checked whether a sticker hides the original QR code. In the event of suspected cases, it is better to solve the parking ticket with coins.
