Dresden is dancing! City festival 2025 expects over 500,000 guests!

The Canaletto city festival will take place in Dresden from August 15th to 17th, 2025, and this year the motto is “Dresden dances”. The organizers are expecting more than 500,000 guests who can look forward to an exciting program. In the old town and parts of the new town, such as the Altmarkt, Zwinger, Neumarkt and the main street, the city is transformed into a feast for the senses. The variety of performances includes over 1,000 artists on eleven stages, providing plenty of entertainment.

However, safety is also taken into account during the city festival. There are numerous closures and traffic disruptions in the city center, all of which are due to be lifted at 12pm on Monday, August 18th. The Theaterplatz and the Terrassenufer are particularly affected, where traffic will be stopped for the duration of the festival. In addition, glass bottles, weapons and large pieces of luggage are not permitted on the festival grounds in order to ensure that all visitors have a carefree stay.

A historical landmark of Dresden

Another highlight of the city is the Loschwitz Bridge, often referred to as the “Blue Wonder”. This impressive steel truss bridge, which has connected the residential areas of Loschwitz and Blasewitz since 1893, is a technical masterpiece and is considered one of the first examples of bridge construction in Europe without pillars. With a total length of 280 meters and a height of the supports of approx. 24 meters, it is not only functional, but also a well-known symbol of Drezen, which today stands next to the Frauenkirche and the Golden Rider. Interestingly, the bridge has received a lot of criticism for its design, but as the oldest, undamaged structure in the city, it remains a popular photo opportunity.

As with so many events, not only people come to the city, but also retailers and creative people. For example, local sellers can use eBay as a platform to showcase their goods. eBay offers resources for sellers to get started and has over 134 million buyers worldwide. This platform supports small businesses by offering selling options for free and providing sellers with helpful tools to support their venture. So anyone who has a musical or culinary talent can do a good business and find their place in the market.
