Dresden strengthens U21: Successful new additions to the SGD team!
The Dynamo Dresden sports community has almost completed its U21 squad and is happy about some promising young talents. The club has strengthened itself with several new additions that are intended to bring a breath of fresh air into the team. Jonas Böhmert, 21 years old, is moving from FSV 63 Luckenwalde to SGD. He was already in the squad at the professional team's test games at the weekend and gained his first experience in Kamenz. Another addition is Laurin Schönwald, a 19-year-old central defender who is moving to SGD from the U19 team at Halleschen FC.
With Aaron Riedel, 18 years old, another talent from the U19 of 1. FC Union Berlin is coming to Dresden. Riedel was also in the professional test squad and is now preparing for the new season with the U21s. Striker Arne Seemann, 19, is also moving to Dynamo from the U19 of FC Energie Cottbus. Nico Künzel, also a striker, also strengthens the team. He comes from the U19 team of Chemnitzer FC.
Experienced players and returnees
An experienced newcomer is Rick Wuchrer, who is moving from the Oberliga from SC Freital to SGD. The 20-year-old scored six goals and assisted two more in 25 appearances last season. In addition, Paul Milde, a native of Pirna and 30 years old, is returning to the SGD. He brings a lot of experience from 110 regional league and 32 third division games and is expected to take on a central role in the newly formed U21 team, where he can pass on his knowledge to the young players.
When planning for the coming season, Dresden is focusing heavily on the development of talented players, which is also in the context of the current discussion about the development of young talent in German football. According to a study published by the German Football League (DFL), professional clubs have invested millions in promoting young talent in recent years. These investments, which were recorded from the 2010/2011 to 2023/2024 season, show how important young talent has become for the clubs. The data was published on March 11, 2025 and can now be viewed as of June 29, 2025, as Statista reported.
Test matches and preparation
In terms of preparation, FC Energie Cottbus was also extremely dominant in its second test match against state league team Wacker Ströbitz. The team under head coach Claus-Dieter Wollitz started with an early lead and dominated the game at will. Cedric Euschen, a trial player from Fortuna Düsseldorf's U23 team, gave Cottbus the lead in the 3rd minute. This was followed by goals from Tobias Hasse, who scored a hat trick and contributed a total of four goals, before Nadir Achahbar, Niclas Erlbeck and Theo Harz increased the final score to 10-0. The next test for Cottbus is on Saturday, June 26th, against Oberliga team Ludwigsfelder FC FC Energy reported.
The coming weeks promise some exciting developments in youth football and in the preparation of the professional teams. It will be interesting to see how the newcomers perform and which talents will ultimately prevail.
