Dynamo Dresden is worried about a home win in the 2nd league after 1400 days!

In the 2nd Bundesliga, SG Dynamo Dresden remains stationary. On October 5, 2025, at the home game against Karlsruher SC, the team failed to end the home curse that had lasted 1,399 days. Instead of a legendary home win, the Dresden team had to be content with a 3-3 draw, which took place in the sold-out Rudolf Harbig Stadium in front of 31,600 spectators. However, this point gain remains little more than a drop in the ocean, as the SGD has only managed one win from eight games this season, which makes the situation in the fight to stay in the league much more difficult. How Picture reported, the last home win was on December 5, 2021 against Karlsruher SC, when they won 3-1.

The game against Karlsruhe began with an impressive choreography by the fans, but the start was anything but straightforward for SG Dynamo. Nils Froling gave the home team the lead in the 9th minute, but just two minutes later Beifus put everything back on track with an equalizer. In the first half, the SGD couldn't find its game and had to accept the 1:2 in the 37th minute by Egloff, which underlined Christoph Daferner's critical words about the first half. The striker called the performance “relatively poor” and criticized the team’s defensive behavior, which coach Thomas Stamm also regretted.

Tough battles in the East Derby

The game was characterized by intense duels, which not only thrilled the spectators, but also pushed both teams to their limits. Dynamo wanted to turn things around and Daferner equalized to make it 2-2 in the 52nd minute. But here too the team lacked some luck and precision - Daferner missed several great opportunities. In the 61st minute, Karlsruher SC took the lead again through Schleusener.

However, the hosts were not discouraged. Jakob Lemmer scored the much-celebrated equalizer to make it 3-3 in stoppage time. This point may bring a little relief, but it raises the question of how the club wants to reverse the negative trend. A look at the table immediately makes it clear that the situation for Dynamo remains precarious.

A season with challenges

The changes in the line-up of head coach Thomas Stamm, who replaced four players, are intended to bring a breath of fresh air into the game. But even against a strongly fighting Karlsruhe team, the hoped-for home win failed to materialize. In a game that showed the bitter side of football, the SGD cannot turn a great fight into a positive outcome.

It is with excitement and anticipation that we look forward to the next competitive game against Mainz 05 in the DFB Cup, which is scheduled for August 18th. Maybe the SGD will finally be able to take the first step out of their misery and make the fans in the stands cheer again. As we all know, hope dies last.
