Dynamo Dresden remains without a win after 1:2 against Paderborn!

On October 25, 2025, SG Dynamo Dresden's fifth defeat of the season was sealed when they lost 2-1 to SC Paderborn in the Rudolf Harbig Stadium. This defeat also meant that Dynamo have now been winless for seven games and remain in third-to-last place in the second division table. It is a bitter situation for the Dresden team, who have not been able to record a win in 14 home games. Despite a strong start to the game, in which Christoph Daferner took the lead with a penalty in the 26th minute, they were unable to maintain their lead.

Filip Bilbija also equalized with a penalty in injury time of the first half (45th + 1), and Mika Baur turned the game around for Paderborn in the 65th minute. After the game, coach Thomas Stamm not only criticized his team's defense, but also their lack of efficiency. Ralf Kettemann, Paderborn's coach, however, highlighted his team's outstanding current form, as MDR reports.

The gameplay

Despite the defeat, Dynamo Dresden showed some promising approaches. At the start of both halves they dominated the game and had several chances. Tony Menzel and Daferner pushed in the first half, while Kofi Amoako, Luca Herrmann and Vinko Sapina tried everything in the final phase to secure the draw. But Paderborn also remained dangerous and were lucky when a shot from Tjark Scheller was scratched off the line in stoppage time (90th).

The crowd in the stadium was strong with 30,990 spectators. The disappointed fans saw that with this victory, Paderborn not only celebrated their sixth success in a row, but also set a new club record. These successes lead Paderborn to second place in the table and show how competitive the 2nd Bundesliga is this season

The second Bundesliga at a glance

The 2025/2026 season started on August 1, 2025 and brought many exciting duels. The number of spectators remains high, and the league has an occupancy rate of a remarkable 99 percent. This development is no coincidence: the turnover of the 2nd Bundesliga now amounts to 1.07 billion euros, with the largest income coming from media exploitation and advertising. While relegated Holstein Kiel and VfL Bochum have to come to terms with challenges, the rise of teams like Dynamo Dresden and Arminia Bielefeld shows that a breath of fresh air is coming into the league.

In the coming matchdays it remains to be seen whether Dynamo Dresden can turn things around or whether Paderborn will continue to extend their winning streak. One thing is clear: the 2nd Bundesliga is more exciting than ever and every game can be decisive over the course of the season.
