Dynamo Dresden signs first division professional Konrad Faber in promotion!

Dynamo Dresden got a real lucky break! Konrad Faber, the 27-year-old right-back, is moving from FC St. Gallen to Saxony. This step towards promotion to the 2nd league could be promising for both sides. Faber is an experienced player who recently fought hard for a regular place in the Super League and made 31 appearances, also scoring one goal.

The Breisach native, born on November 4, 1997, took his first footballing steps at SV Breisach, followed by stints at FC Emmendingen and Freiburger FC. Faber then began his professional career at Freiburger FC before moving to the second team at SC Freiburg. He had previously also played for SSV Jahn Regensburg, where he appeared 53 times in the 2nd Bundesliga and 37 times in the 3rd league. He is now bringing this experience with him to Dresden, which could be extremely important for staying in the league.

An old acquaintance of the SGD trainer

The connection to Dynamo Dresden becomes even closer thanks to coach Thomas Stamm. Stamm knows Faber from their time together at SC Freiburg II from 2018 to 2021. This wealth of experience could help Faber quickly integrate into the team. Thomas Brendel, the sports director of SG Dynamo Dresden, was very positive about Faber's abilities, especially his high running workload and the style of play, which should now benefit the team.

Faber himself is pleased about the move and spoke of a good feeling in discussions with the club. So there are promising signs that this player will not only be a reinforcement for the defense, but also create a positive atmosphere in the dressing room.

The transfer and the loan

Although Faber has a contract with FC St. Gallen until 2027, he will initially be loaned to the Saxon capital for a year. This gives him the opportunity to prove himself again in German football. In the summer of 2024, Faber made the move to St. Gallen and even played seven games there in the UEFA Conference League and its qualification. This shows that he has also gained experience on the international stage.

For Dynamo Dresden, who recently moved to the second division, this transfer is a step in the right direction. Faber could turn out to be a valuable piece of the puzzle for the desired relegation.
