Dynamo Dresden signs youngster Kofi Amoako – new hope in midfield!
Dynamo Dresden has a new player! The 20-year-old German-Ghanaian Kofi Amoako is moving from VfL Wolfsburg to SGD. This signing for the 2025/26 season was recently announced and there is much to be happy about for both those responsible and the fans. It was agreed not to disclose the exact terms of the transfer, but managing director Thomas Brendel is optimistic and describes Amoako as a talented player with a lot of potential.
Amoako, who was loaned out to VfL Osnabrück in the past, played 33 games in the third division last season and achieved a grade average of 3.13. Particularly interesting: The young midfielder should play an important role in the center of the game and exploit his athletic strengths in the six position. Thomas Stamm, the Dynamo coach, emphasizes that Amoako's athleticism will bring stability to the game - a valuable attribute in a highly competitive mid-range across the league.
Strong background and first steps
Kofi Amoako was born on May 6, 2005 in Hanover and began his football career at TSV Fortuna Sachsenross. In 2016 he moved to Hannover 96's youth team before joining VfL Wolfsburg's U17s in 2019. The young player developed quickly there, ultimately becoming captain of the U19 and signing his first professional contract in 2023. Amoako made his Bundesliga debut on December 16, 2023 against Darmstadt, and even though he only had short appearances in the first division, his development shows that he has an eye for talent.
Amoako has also played through all of the DFB's U-national teams and made his debut for the U20 team on March 21, 2025. This diverse experience provides patience and a willingness to develop further - qualities that not only the player himself, but also Dynamo Dresden need for the upcoming second division season.
A new chapter in Dresden
“I’m really looking forward to moving to Dresden,” said Amoako. He has already heard a lot of positive things about the atmosphere in the Rudolf Harbig Stadium and can't wait to fight for the fans on the pitch. The move could pave the way for a successful season, especially considering that Dynamo Dresden had a total market value of 10.48 million euros in the last third division season and is looking to advance to the next challenge.
Expectations are high for next season and all eyes are on the new and experienced players. The SGD is traditionally strong in the 3rd league, but with the new commitments the team could consolidate further and perhaps even play at the top of the table. Transfer market keeps an eye on the development of the league, where the total market value in the 2024/25 season was 162.93 million euros. This gives hope for exciting games and thrilling duels when the season begins.
So we can be curious to see how Kofi Amoako will develop in his new environment at Dynamo Dresden. Maybe he will soon write his own success story in the second division.
