Grill's goal at Dynamo: finally find a home in the goal!
The 26-year-old goalkeeper Lennart Grill, most recently active at Dynamo Dresden, can look back on an eventful career with eight positions. His travels took him through many clubs, including Kaiserslautern, Leverkusen, Union Berlin, Osnabrück, Braunschweig and Fürth. Grill is determined to finally find a stable place with second division newcomer Dresden, as Transfermarkt reports. “Your own expectations are the most important,” emphasizes the player, who has been under pressure in the past and gained experience from it.
Marked by many loan deals, including three times during his time at Union Berlin, Grill said: “I want to be firmly anchored at a club again.” In the current Dynamo Dresden squad, he has to compete with Tim Schreiber for the position of starting goalkeeper. Despite the challenges, Grill is calm and has no exaggerated demands to be number one in goal straight away. “I feel experienced and no goalkeeping coach can surprise me more,” he added.
Career overview
In total, Grill can look back on 10 Bundesliga and 27 second division appearances as well as 51 games in the 3rd division. It is all the more astonishing that he has never had the feeling that he would be at home in the long term at any of the clubs. His contract story begins with Bayer 04 Leverkusen, where he was signed five years ago for 2 million euros. Since then he has been able to prove his skills in various leagues and competitions. Among other things, he was also active in the UEFA Europa League, as Transfermarkt shows.

A goalkeeper with potential
Grill began his professional career at 1. FC Kaiserslautern, where he played 54 competitive games. His move to Bayer 04 Leverkusen took place in the midst of the Corona crisis, and he signed a contract until the summer of 2024, as Laola1 reports. At the time, sporting director Simon Rolfes described him as an interesting and talented goalkeeper who still had a lot of development potential.
With all of this experience and the determination to gain a foothold at Dynamo Dresden, Grill is now facing a new challenge. He is no stranger to the pressure that comes with high expectations, and he seems willing to do whatever it takes to live up to it.
