Artist Karl Kujau celebrates father Uncle Konrad at a long gallery night!

In Dresden, summer begins with a special event: On June 19, 2025, the Long Night of the Galleries will take place in the Technik Ambiente am Goldenen Reiter. A highlight of the event are the exhibitions by the artist Karl Kujau, the nephew of the legendary art forger Konrad Kujau. As early as 6 p.m., art lovers can admire Karl's works, including his creative piece of jewelry, the "Kloppo Car".

Karl Kujau, born in Dresden in 1988, is known as the “Wendekind” and was able to learn his passion for painting from his uncle Konrad, who lived from 1938 to 2000. Konrad Kujau is best known for falsifying Hitler's diaries and the associated scandals in the 1980s. The revelation of these forgeries caused one of the biggest press scandals in German post-war history, after Kujau sold 62 volumes to “Stern” for 9.3 million DM, which were initially believed to be genuine.

A new chapter of creativity

After his uncle's death in 2000, Karl Kujau took a creative break, but found his way back to painting. His works focus primarily on motifs from football, with the players of his favorite club Dynamo Dresden and scenes from his hometown taking center stage. He enjoys a growing fan base that appreciates his art.

What is particularly remarkable is how Karl Kujau combines his art with social commitment. Through the “You’ll Never Walk Alone” project, he has dedicated himself to new challenges to help disadvantaged children. He also had the opportunity to interact with world stars such as Sting, Katarina Witt and Udo Lindenberg. Pope Francis was also touched by a portrait that Kujau created of him.

On to the Long Night of Galleries

Another exciting aspect of the upcoming Long Night of Galleries is the portrait that Karl Kujau created of Robbie Williams. This valuable work of art will be on display at the event and will be signed by the pop star herself with the title “Echt Kujau”. The event promises not only a wealth of art, but also the opportunity to get in touch with the artists and discover new perspectives.

The event lasts until midnight and provides a platform to unite art and social causes. Karl Kujau thus impressively proves that the legends of the past - like his uncle Konrad, a well-known artist of a completely different kind - can also be an inspiration for creativity and social change today. The Long Night of Galleries will be an unforgettable experience for art lovers and those who want to become art lovers.
