Parkour facility in Striesen: damaged after just eight months!

The first parkour facility in Dresden was opened eight months ago with great enthusiasm on Haenel-Clauss-Straße. But now worrying news is making the rounds: the sports playground, which is mainly used intensively by children and young people, is already badly damaged. How dnn.de reported that there are significant defects in the flooring, which was not laid correctly from the start.

Birgit, a committed athlete who enjoys cycling from Tolkewitz to Striesen, is anything but enthusiastic. She criticizes the severe deformation of the surface as well as the large hole, which was presumably caused by vandalism and costs the city garden by 500 euros. The granules, which were intended for safety, spread carelessly across the entire space and endanger users. SPD city district councilors, including Carmen Neuburg, Michael Kunath and Christian Kreß, have already sounded the alarm and are calling for the city administration to act quickly to correct the deficiencies.

Defects documented during acceptance

What is astonishing is that the defects were already recorded when the system was accepted. This not only causes uncertainty among residents, but also fears that the space could soon no longer be usable. However, the city administration has not yet commented on whether and when a remedy will be provided, even though city spokesman Alexander Buchmann confirms that the Office for Urban Greenery and Waste Management is informed about the situation. However, rapid intervention will be absolutely necessary to defuse the growing dissatisfaction among users.

The police have now started an investigation into the damage. The hole in the fall protection mat is just one of many examples that show that something went wrong during the construction of this sports facility. The city district administration points out that the causes of the damage must be clarified before any liability claims can be made. Possible errors during installation or environmental influences, such as leaves remaining under the covering, are conceivable.

Safe and attractive parkour facilities

The parking situation in the city could become more relevant due to the renewed discussion about the parkour facility. In current guides, such as the brochure from lappset.de, innovative design ideas and proven methods for the safe planning of parkour facilities are presented. Whether in public parks or specifically for schools: the selection of the right materials and the integration of safety functions play a crucial role in the design.

The hope remains that both the improvements to the existing system and the advice from experts will help ensure that future projects are implemented better. The commitment of the city and the reaction of the administration will now be crucial in order to keep the sports offerings in the region attractive and safe.
