Sugar cones for everyone: AWO starts fundraiser for the start of school
The start of school is an exciting time for many families, but not all children have the same level of anticipation. In order to make it easier for low-income families and their children to start school, the AWO Dresden district association is launching the “Sugar Bag” campaign, which has been running for 14 years. This year, Simone Lang, member of the Saxon state parliament and deputy chairwoman of the AWO Saxony regional association, is taking over the patronage of the valuable initiative, which aims to accompany children well equipped for the first day of school. As wochenkurier.info reports, all citizens, companies and institutions are encouraged to participate by donating money or in kind.
The return of donations this year is above average: the people of Dresden show a big heart and have already collected over 5,000 euros in cash donations and high-quality donations in kind. These go directly to children in need. This means that 22 ABC shooters receive comprehensive basic equipment from a satchel to an eraser. 26 elementary school students and 25 middle school students can also look forward to a package of school materials. Invitation to hand over the sugar bags
The official handover of the sugar cones will take place on August 6th as part of a celebratory back-to-school event in the Watzke Ball and Brauhaus. All school children, their parents and donors are cordially invited to share the children's joy and find out about the successful campaign. 100 percent of the donations go towards the purchase of school materials, so that every euro goes directly and is not lost in administrative costs, as is the case in many social projects.
