Experience the Day of the Saxons”: three days full of culture and highlights!
There's a lot going on in the Saxon region on the first weekend in September! The eagerly awaited event will take place from September 5th to 7th, 2025 “Day of the Saxons” in Sebnitz, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. For the first time, the festival is celebrated across borders with Dolní Poustevna (Czech Republic), which provides additional momentum. Visitors can look forward to three days full of highlights, music, traditions and a variety of hands-on activities for all age groups.
The Events calendar is well filled. The “Day of the Saxons” is not only the largest festival for clubs and associations in Saxony, but also a platform that highlights the topics of culture, education, crafts, economy and social cohesion. Under the motto “Here’s to blossoming experiences!” Sebnitz attracts with 14 festival areas, including a blue light mile with police, fire and rescue services.
A colorful program for young and old
The different festival areas offer a wide range of activities. In addition to the fairground and live acts on the media stage, around 180 Saxon clubs, associations and institutions will be presenting themselves. Everything is on offer, from allotment gardens to rabbit breeding clubs and of course sports clubs. A special highlight will be the big parade on Sunday, in which decorated floats and bands parade through the city.
Another highlight is the large fireworks display on Saturday evening at 10:30 p.m., which will give guests an unforgettable experience. These special moments are captured in an atmosphere that celebrates and strengthens both culture and regional identity.
