SG Bornim surprisingly separates from coach Maximilian Stöck!

Bornim, Deutschland - The SG Bornim separated from its trainer Maximilian Stöck, a decision that was announced on June 7, 2025. Stöck held the office for almost three and a half years and was instrumental in the promotion of the club to the Landesliga last summer. The board announced the decision on Thursday of the team, while Stöck had already been informed about it on Wednesday evening. René Bohnebuck, the CFO and temporary sporting director, described the separation as heavy and emotionally stressful, but emphasized the need for changes to advance Bornim football.

The SG Bornim thanks Stöck for the success, including promotion to the Landesliga 2024 and relegation in the current season. The association is currently in eleventh place in the table, with 9 wins, 4 draws and 15 defeats, which corresponds to 31 points and a goal difference of 54:72. The decision was made shortly before the last two games of the season, which will take place on June 14th against SV Blau-Gelb Falkensee and on June 21st against SG unit Zepernick.

a professional farewell

Stöck reacted professionally to the decision and plans to say goodbye to his players. He had previously announced that he was involved in the club for another two years, which makes the separation all the more surprising. The conversations between the board and the trainer had already given the impression that new impulses were necessary to make the development of the association positively.

The separation from Stöck falls during a time that is often shaped by coaching changes in amateur football. These are often seen as the last way out in sporting times of crisis. In many clubs, similar trends are shown in the upper amateur area, such as FC Pipinsried and VfR Garching, where the change of coaches were successfully completed and the new impulse helped the teams to get out of the relegation zone. The SG Bornim is thus part of a growing pattern in amateur football, which underlines the need for fresh wind in the teams.

The association hopes to promote new talents from their own offspring with the separation from Stöck and to take the next step in the club development.
