Drug offender in Görlitz: 35-year-old caught with crystal!

Today, October 10, 2025, the police ticker for the Görlitz district provides an interesting insight into current incidents and crime reports from the region. Most recently, a 35-year-old man was checked on Bahnhofstrasse in Görlitz. Officers found a clip bag containing a crystalline substance identified as Crystal. The man is now being held responsible for violating the narcotics law Saxon reported.

In recent months there have also been some worrying incidents in Löbau and other cities in this region. On June 28, 2025, two young people aged 19 and 17 were observed on a roof on Lessingstrasse after climbing scaffolding. The smashed windows of a building alerted residents, who informed the police. During the check, it emerged that the 17-year-old was being investigated as a suspect for the property damage, while the older accomplice was found in possession of Ecstasy. Property damage was estimated at around 500 euros. These incidents are also reported in the Media service Saxony mentioned.

Damage to property and drug problems

Drugs appear to be a common problem in the region. Worth mentioning are, among other things, several traffic accidents, which are often related to alcohol or drugs. A serious incident occurred on June 27, 2025, when a 73-year-old driver collided with a 15-year-old Simson driver. The Simson driver was flown to hospital with serious injuries. Although such cases are frightening, they are only the visible part of a larger problem. The Saxony Police carries out regular checks and evaluates recorded crime in order to better get these problems under control.

But not only drugs, but also crimes such as property damage are increasing. In 2024, according to the Crime Atlas of Saxony, many areas near larger cities such as Leipzig and Dresden will be affected. The frequency figures show that crime in the city is significantly higher than in rural areas. A comparison of regional figures helps to identify crime-prone areas and to create a feeling of security again.

In the next few weeks, the police plan to take even more intensive action against such crimes and provide the public with information about local crime hotspots. It remains to be seen how the situation will develop and whether the measures can be fruitful. What is clear, however, is that the need for action is great and citizens are called upon to remain vigilant.
