First Beach Soccer Cup on Lake O-See: Summer action for everyone!
A lot is happening at Lake Olbersdorf! The first Beach Soccer Hobby Cup will be held here in August under the direction of Ferdinand Hepper. The event will take place from August 15th to 17th as part of the legendary O-SEE Challenge, which has developed from a bet between friends into an internationally recognized cross triathlon event since its founding in 2000. Participants play 5 against 5 for 20 minutes each and have the chance to compete in an exciting atmosphere. The Seestern has become a popular location since 2012 and offers its guests not only refreshments in the form of cocktails, but also a shop and a rental station.
A wide range of leisure activities at the lake
But Lake O has even more to offer! On the north bank, visitors can rent pedal boats, stand-up paddle boards or bicycles and treat themselves to days full of leisure fun. The rental prices are very fair: a pedal boat costs 15 euros for an hour, while registration for soccer rentals costs 12 euros for an hour. And for sports-loving visitors, there is also a pump track that was recently reopened - ideal for mountain bikers, inline skaters and BMX cyclists.
In order to present the lake in the best light during the O-SEE Challenge, the organizers have gotten vandalism problems under control by having the jetty illuminated and monitored by cameras since 2023. Hepper also has plans to move his starfish closer to the water in order to create new attractions and thus further increase the attractiveness of the area.
The O-SEE Challenge: A highlight of the year
The O-SEE Challenge, which is now considered the most famous and most demanding cross triathlon in Germany and has been part of the international XTERRA series since 2004, can look back on an impressive past. Every year, approximately 1,500 participants from all over the world take part in the event, which also brings a lot of fun and cultural aspects for spectators. In 2025, not only the challenge itself, but also the 25th anniversary will be celebrated, which is why planning is already underway for an extraordinary event that will continue the spirit and tradition of the event o-see-challenge.de can be read.
There are around 800 parking spaces available for everyone who wants to visit Lake O, with prices ranging from 1.50 euros for one and a half hours to seven euros for a whole day. The opening times vary depending on the season, with the starfish being a popular stop for all leisure enthusiasts from May to October.
